Itinerary - Climb Mount Elbrus (5,642 Mts)

Things to Know from Climb Mount Elbrus (5,642 Mts)

Mount Elbrus, at 5,642 meters high, is the tallest mountain in continental Europe. For many years it was overlooked, but it is one of the Seven Summits of the world, located between Mount Vinson (Antarctica) and Kilimanjaro (Africa).

It lies in the Caucasus mountain range, in the Kabardino Balkaria region, an area with over 160 peaks above 4,000 meters.

It is not a mountain with major technical difficulties for ascent, but its height and special weather conditions—which can change very quickly—should not be underestimated. During the summit day, the maximum guide-to-client ratio is 1:4.

The 9-day program begins with travel from Mineralnye Vody airport to return (transfers included in the price). It includes prior acclimatization by climbing Mount Cheget, visiting the Devichi Kosi waterfalls, and staged acclimatization on Elbrus.

The south face of Elbrus, the most popular climbing route, has mechanical lifts allowing ascent up to 3,800 meters. Ascents via the north or east faces are also possible but are longer programs with more complicated logistics, as there are no fixed refuges and camping is required. If interested in these options, please ask for more information.

All necessary mountaineering equipment can be rented locally, and supplemental oxygen is also available if desired.
