Things to Know from Island Peak (6,165m)
This 18-day program is designed for mountaineers with previous high-altitude experience who want to take the leap to a moderately technical 6,000-meter peak. It begins with two nights in Kathmandu to manage permits and review gear, followed by the legendary flight to Lukla and a gradual trek through the Khumbu Valley, with strategic stops in Namche and Tengboche for both cultural and physical acclimatization. In Dingboche and Chhukung, acclimatization is reinforced through high-altitude hikes and a practical workshop on crampons and rope techniques.
The alpine phase begins at Base Camp (4,970 m), where the infrastructure for the summit push is established. A transfer to High Camp (5,600 m) allows rest before the final ascent. Summit day involves crossing the Imja Glacier, navigating crevasses with fixed ropes, and climbing a snowy ridge to reach 6,165 meters, with unique panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam.
