Itinerary - Svalbard by Sailboat

Things to Know from Svalbard by Sailboat

Welcome aboard our journey along the northwest coast of Spitsbergen; an area rich in majestic fjords and mountains, large glaciers, wildlife, and a deep history.

Our goal on this trip is to explore the flora and fauna of the archipelago. Various coastal activities will be undertaken, including glacier visits.

Although this trip does not circumnavigate all of Svalbard (we offer other programs that do), there are great opportunities to see polar bears, whales, seals, and walruses. Svalbard experiences the “midnight sun” until August 11th, providing 24 hours of daylight.

Our 70-foot expedition vessel is a very sturdy and comfortable steel-built ship designed for Arctic waters. The ship is well-equipped, featuring large outdoor areas, a pilothouse, and a lounge with 360-degree views. It offers many comforts and all essential safety equipment to navigate through the ice.

Svalbard is a wild territory with a polar bear population exceeding 2,000 individuals. All land activities are supervised by our experienced polar guide specialized in risk management in the area. It is advisable to have accident and rescue insurance (although rescues are free in Norway).

Onboard, the entire management lies with the vessel’s Captain, who will take all necessary measures for safe navigation. Safety equipment will be provided upon arrival, and an informative briefing will be held to ensure maximum safety throughout the trip.
