Things to Know from Trekking to Langtang Valley
The Langtang Valley trek is ideal for a first trekking experience in Nepal.
A trek to enjoy, without acclimatization problems, reaching up to 3,730 meters, with all the splendor of the great Langtang National Park and located just below the towering Langtang Lirung peak (7,246 m) that dominates the valley and stretches on both sides from the border with Tibet.
It is an ideal route to enjoy with friends or family, of moderate difficulty and suitable for all levels, with relaxed treks of 4 to 6 hours every day.
In spring, you can observe various birds and the impressive rhododendron flowers. The route to Langtang Village passes through a tropical forest full of monkeys and, as you ascend, it transforms into an impressive icy alpine landscape with views of Langtang Lirung (7,245 m), Ganesh Himal (7,146 m), and Dorje Lhakpa (6,990 m) peaks, which are a reward for trekkers.
The journey starts in Syabrubesi, just a few kilometers from the Tibet border and the gateway to the Langtang Valley and the Tamang country. You will ascend the valley floor, reaching first Lama Hotel, then Langtang Village, and finally Kyangjin Gompa, the last inhabited village in the valley.
The path you will take on this hike crosses lush subtropical forests until you reach the very Himalayas, with great and impressive peaks and glaciers.
The region is home to the Tamang and Sherpa peoples. Here they live with a unique culture that is a curious blend of Nepali and Tibetan influences.
The best months to do this trek are March, April, May, September, October, November, and December. Remember, you will be entering one of Nepal’s great National Parks.
